Driver / Crew Lead in Charlotte, NC

Runs the truck and the job. Sets the load plan, handles the customer, keeps the day on schedule.

Charlotte — Coming Fall 2026

We're booking quotes and move dates now, and hiring the first Charlotte crew. Everyone on the priority list hears from us before the schedule opens.

The job

What you'd actually be doing

The crew lead is the company as far as the customer is concerned. You're the first person through the door and the one they remember.

You decide the order things come out in, where they sit in the truck, and what to do when a stairwell turns out to be narrower than anybody said on the phone.

  • Walk the house before anyone picks anything up, and set the load plan off what you see
  • Drive the box truck, tight residential streets and downtown docks included
  • Run the walkthrough with the customer at both ends
  • Keep the inventory and the paperwork straight
  • Handle the customer when the day changes, and call the office as soon as you know

What we need

Who this works for

  • Valid license and a clean record
  • Comfortable with a box truck on tight residential streets
  • Can plan a load properly, not just fill a truck
  • Willing to own the job from arrival to walkthrough

Helps, doesn't decide it

Nice to have

  • You've led a crew before, so people already take direction from you
  • You know the metro well enough to route around the traffic
  • Any DOT paperwork experience

Missing all three has never stopped us hiring somebody who turns up and listens.

A resume helps for the operations manager job. For crew work it isn't needed, and never having written one has never cost anybody a shift here.

Questions

Driver / Crew Lead FAQ

Tell us what you hold and we'll tell you what you can drive here. Licensing depends on the truck, so ask when you call and we'll go through it.

Not usually. Most drivers run a few jobs alongside an existing lead first, however long they've been doing this, because every company loads and prices differently.

Local work is the bulk of it. Long-distance jobs come up and they get offered around. Nobody gets put on one who doesn't want it.
